MPT Accelerates Mobile Data Speeds With New Advanced LTE+ Network

(Yangon, 19 June 2017) – MPT today announced that its fastest data service will be called LTE+. Using new technology, turbo-charged mobile data speed is initially available in the largest cities of Yangon, NayPyiTaw and Mandalay, before heading to other locations throughout the country over the next few months.

As Myanmar’s leading operator, MPT is writing a fresh and exciting chapter in the country’s telecommunications history. With the 1.8GHz spectrum that was recently allocated by Government’s Posts and Telecommunications Department (PTD), MPT is now offering its high-speed LTE+ (also known as Long Term Evolution), which is a grade of advanced 4G that delivers a connection for mobile internet up to 10 times faster than 3G.LTE+ permits much faster data downloads and upload, revolutionizing communication for personal and business users alike.

MPT is using the latest 4×4 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology, which essentially leapfrogs the previous 4G/LTE 2×2 MIMO, achieving double the speed. As the name suggests, 4x4MIMO uses twice the amount of receivers and transmitters in your phone and from the cell tower to send and receive data. Data is streamed dynamically down a combination of all four data channels, depending on the network situation, to get the highest possible rate.It is cutting-edge LTE that can improve the download rate by 100% from 75Mbps to an accelerated 150Mbps,offering users an experience like no other.

Mr. Toshitake Amamiya CEO of MPT-KSGM Joint Operations said “The highly-advanced technology that powers MPT’s LTE+ network is the best in Myanmar. It offers customers lighting fast mobile data speeds unlike what was possible before, at the same charges as all our pay-as-you-go rates and data packs. In addition, MPT has also launched and introduced a Happy Data Combo Pack promotion which is more cost effective, providing bonuses for video and social users.Data users will feel the incredible difference as they download or send large files, play data-intensive games or stream high definition videos at just a fraction of the time through our boosted cell towers”

“It truly is a huge leap forward for Myanmar’s mobile telecommunications that will impact the way people here experience rich online content and services on their mobile communications,” added Mr. Amamiya.

For its LTE+ network rollout, is covering 47 townships of Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyitawin May and LTE+ coverage expansion will start in Bago, Taunggyi, Mawlamyaine, Monywa and Pathein in July. By August it will have reached over 20 cities and by September MPT targets that LTE+ will have gone live in over 30 cities across the nation.

Customers will be pleased to know that they can be automatically connected to LTE+ service when it is available in their area, if their devices are compatible. MPT’s wide network has been carefully built to handle a smooth transition between receiving 4G/LTE+ and 3G– which has already been officially recognized as the fastest and largest in Myanmar. The new service will be expanded to other cities and towns as soon as possible so that many people will have access to the LTE+ network offered by MPT.

The LTE+ service is available for all MPT users with 4G/LTE compatible devices and SIM cards. MPT users with older non-compatible SIM cards may swap them for new 4G/LTE -ready ones, while retaining their current numbers, at any MPT branded stores in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay PyiTaw for no extra charge. Customers are reminded to check their settings and ensure that LTE+ is enabled on their devices.

MPT Team Gives Vital Blood At Centres Around Myanmar

(Yangon, 15 June, 2017) – MPT employees in states and regions across the country have joined in solidarity with the public on World Blood Donor Day to give their donation.

Giving blood is a noble act that is of vital importance to the medical and emergency services. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), blood is an important resource for planned treatments and urgent interventions. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with a higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures. Blood is also vital for treating the wounded during emergencies of all kinds (natural disasters, accidents, armed conflicts, etc.) and has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and perinatal care.

In Myanmar, MPT encouraged its staff and its customers to make a contribution. They turned out in their hundreds at blood donation centres in Yangon, Mandalay and also made significant donations in the other regional cities including Bago, Magwe, Sagaing, Shan, Ayerwaddy, Kaya, Thanintharyi and Kayin.

Mr. Yoshiaki Benino, Chief Operating Officer for MPT KSGM Joint Operations said “On behalf of MPT, I would like to thank everyone who donated their time and their blood today at many centres around the country. This is our second time donating blood as a team, as we have organized a blood drive in commemoration of Union Day and General Aung San’s birthday back in February this year, in Yangon. We are pleased to be expanding our efforts to include many other areas this time.”

“Giving blood, and giving often, can save lives. I hope that people have used World Blood Donor Day to also raise awareness of the importance of giving blood all year round,” added Mr. Benino.

MPT would also like to strongly urge people to donate valuable blood often and at any time throughout the year. People can locate their nearest blood donation centre by visiting https://www.donatebloodmyanmar.org/
