(Yangon, 20th July 2017) – Starting in August, mobile users in 5 more locations will be able to experience MPT’s LTE+ high-speed revolution as the nation’s leading telecommunications operator pushes forward with its service coverage expansion on the 1.8GHz spectrum.

MPT Sends Staff On Year-Long Training Secondment Program In Japan

(Yangon, 14 July 2017) – In an effort to develop the capacity of Myanmar’s fast-growing telecommunications sector and enhance the company’s overall operations and service quality for customers, MPT has selected four of its staff from various departments for training placements with partner KDDI in Japan for a year.  This pioneering initiative was made possible through MPT’s deep cooperation with Japanese partners, KDDI Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation.

Spanning a period of between July 2017 to June 2018, the program’s courses will aim to broaden the participants’ perspectives and impart in-depth knowledge in several disciplines of the telecommunications field. As one of the foremost telecommunications service providers operating cutting-edge networks in Japan, KDDI will be the ideal place to learn from global technical experts and industry specialists, whilst promoting exchange and cooperation between Myanmar and Japan.

The four MPT employees include Mr. Kyi Swe Aung, 29, from the Business Planning Commercial Department and Ms. Su Maw, 35, from the International Transmission & Maintenance Center. Ms. Yin Yin Zaw, 33, and Mr. Saw David San, 34 are both from the Operations Department.

“My colleagues and I are honored and excited to begin this training placement in Japan!” said

Ms. Yin Yin Zaw. “This once-in-a-lifetime chance to develop professionally with a leading Japanese organization will definitely help us improve our contribution to the telecommunications sector back home. We eagerly look forward to the experiencing what the program has to offer.”

After completing a three-month Japanese language course, the participants will undergo in-depth theoretical and practical training conducted by qualified KDDI employees, in their respective areas. These include training modules that range from project management, marketing, business skills and planning, to operations, systems and technical skills as well as actual working arrangements with selected KDDI departments.

U Khin Maung Tun, Managing Director  of MPT said: “We are confident that MPT’s staff and the organization as a whole will benefit immensely from the training program in Japan,” “Not only will they acquire valuable skills and knowhow vital to running a top telecoms operation, they will learn from the best at KDDI, a leader in the Japanese market. Upon their return, they will be able to utilize their newfound proficiencies gained from hands-on experience within a dynamic and competitive environment, to enhance telecommunications services in Myanmar,” he added.

The training concludes in June 2018, after which the four employees will resume working in Myanmar. With plans to further expand the program, MPT has also announced that it will extend it to a new batch of participants next year.

To chronicle their training and daily experiences in the Land of The Rising Sun, the eager participants will be sharing their photos and thoughts on MPT’s Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/mptofficialpage/.
