Myanmar Youth Technopreneurship Development Program 2018 Sees 10 Teams Successfully Make It Through To Final Round

(Yangon, 29th January 2018) As part of Myanmar Youth Technopreneurship Development Program 2018 the honorable judges for the program has selected ten teams from Yangon and Mandalay representing upper Myanmar Lower Myanmar to undergo a one week boot-camp. The competition jointly-hosted by the Myanmar Computer Federation and MPT aims to support youth and their ability to start businesses in areas relevant to MPT’s expertise.

13 teams from Lower Myanmar (based in Yangon) and 13 teams from Upper Myanmar (based in Mandalay), presented their products and solutions in front of the panel of judges where they were chosen based on the scalability of the business models, and the innovative ideas on the respective fields . On 23 and 27 January, five teams from Lower Myanmar and five teams from Upper Myanmar were shortlisted at the pre-selection event held at the Conference Hall, MICT Park (Yangon) and at Yadanarpon Super Center, MICT Park (Mandalay) respectively.

The teams shortlisted to take part in the Myanmar Youth Technopreneurship Development Program 2018 presented a range of products spanning a variety of service areas. The successful teams from the Lower Myanmar (based in Yangon) pre-selection were My Player, Secret Art, Cyber E-Sports Portal, Butterfly, Doctor Kyaw, and from Upper Myanmar (based in Mandalay), Myanmar CNC, Baby Lovers, Team Liquid, Team Hexasky, Particles.

The final 10 teams will have the opportunity to refine their business plans and pitch their ideas to a board of judges and media. Following a 1-week boot-camp of intense mentoring, they will be taken through progress review meetings, finance and legal workshops, hackathons, mentor sessions, and pitch sessions to improve their business sense and fine-tune their interpersonal skills. From there, 3 teams will be selected to execute their final proposed business idea, undertaken by the help of honorable Judges.

The three ultimate winning teams will be decided on the final competition day to be organized on February 2018. They will receive 5,000,000 Ks. and 6 months access to a co-working space with other successful local start-ups at MCF’s incubation centre, Kanaung Hub, starting from March 2018. The winning team will also get the opportunity to further grow their business through the close assistance of mentors and skills transfer of successful start-ups in the field.

From audio books to a patient queue flow system, these bright youths showcased an amazing breadth of proposals to serve certain unmet demands, both commercial and societal. MPT First to Deliver 3G network to Nanyun City, Sagaing Region

(Yangon, 12 January 2018) MPT is pleased to announce the activation of the first 3G network in Nanyun City, Sagaing Region, in north-west Myanmar.

This launch comes during the auspicious Naga Traditional New Year period 14-16 January, which celebrates the traditional change of year for the people of this region. Thousands of revellers are expected to celebrate their traditional entry into the new year donning distinct and colourful traditional clothes and engaging in cultural arts and performances along the river banks that straddle the beautiful festival grounds, praying for good weather, abundant crops and healthy domestic animals.

MPT is dedicated to moving Myanmar forwards with best-in-class connectivity all around the country. As part of the upgrade in Nanyun, MPT’s tower infrastructure is changing from a satellite-based system to one based on modern microwave technology, enabling significantly faster data speeds and higher quality voice calls on the nation’s fastest and widest mobile network. This technical achievement was not an easy task, considering the difficulties in accessing such an isolated region known for its challenging road conditions.

MPT MNL Season to Kick Off in Monywa for 2018

(Yangon, 9 January 2018) The first match in a partnership between the Myanmar National League (MNL) and MPT will soon occur, returning the excitement of National League Football to Myanmar for 2018. Happening on 11 January at Monywa Stadium, Sagaing United will play against Rakhine United for the first MNL I match of the season, broadcast live on TV.

Now in its first full year of operations, the agreement with MNL signals MPT’s commitment to promote the long-term growth of the “beautiful game” and encourage a healthy lifestyle amongst Myanmar’s children and youth. Both organizations aim to increase involvement at all age groups through football activities including various MPT Grassroots events for children aged between six and twelve as well as U14 and university student-level tournaments. MPT hopes to develop football skills of Myanmar youth to further the performance of the country at an international level.

MPT MNL is happy to announce the first round of matches in 2018, beginning on 11 January at Monywa Stadium. 12 teams are competing for top honors in MNL I, with the return this year of the rivalry between fan favourites Shan United and Yangon United.

MPT Provides Donations and Offerings at Shwe Dagon Pagoda to Mark An Auspicious Consecration and Communal Offering Ceremony of New Calendar Year

(Yangon, 2 January 2018) Shwe Dagon Pagoda hosted 18000 Buddhist monks on Monday, 1 January 2018, with MPT playing a part in the success of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Organised in order to encourage the further success of Buddhism in Myanmar by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, this event was the very first of its kind in Myanmar.

On behalf of its customer around the country, MPT presented humble donations to venerable monks entering through the Southern Gateway. Offerings included monk robes and other offerings.

The consecration and communal offering ceremonies were held with 18000 members of all-sects of Buddhist Sangha on the first day of the new calendar year 2018. The nightly New Year Dhamma Preaching is being held at the People’s Square for three days.

MPT also activated a new of public Wi-Fi network around Shwe Dagon Pagoda, to help manage the large influx of MPT users in the area. By using their MPT SIM cards, MPT users accessed a public Wi-Fi network around the Pagoda, saving on data costs and ensuring fast speeds during busy periods.
