MPT Contributed Additional Ks 100 Million Along With Over Ks 20 Million in Donations From Customers for the Fight Against COVID-19

(Yangon, 29th May 2020) – MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecom operator, announced today, it contributed additional Ks. 100 million along with 20,691,500 MMK received from generous and caring MPT customers via the SMS Donation Platform launched from 6th April to 17th May, showcasing its on-going support towards the nationwide efforts in response to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Myanmar.

Today’s donation was made to National Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and it will be used to fund the ongoing operations including the purchase of essential medical equipment such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Masks, Respirators, and Ventilators, etc., for frontline medical professionals and strengthen operational readiness of Myanmar’s healthcare system.

In addition to the cash donations made towards required supplies and equipment, MPT is supporting the nationwide efforts to combat COVID-19 by providing vital telecom services including Fiber Internet Connections and Auto Telephone Lines to the Phaunggyi COVID-19 Medical Centers as well as other quarantine & treatment centers across States and Regions.

MPT is also providing a variety of services including free unlimited access to 6 websites, data-free access to Saw Saw Shar App, bonus data & voice call packages for customers, SMS donation platform, donation of MPT SIM cards to quarantine centers, COVID-19 SMS Information Service, free call access to MOHS Spokesperson, COVID-19 information centers and counselling centers across Myanmar

Auto-Telephone Numbers Will Be Changed As Exchanges Are Already Upgraded

(Yangon, 27th May 2020) – MPT announced today that in order to improve quality and provide better services, following exchanges were upgraded with the advanced system. Therefore, existing auto telephone numbers are required to be migrated to new unique 7-digit numbers as below table.

During transitional period of old numbers to new numbers, MPT will provide 3 Months ‘call forwarding services’ for their incoming calls free of charge, for customers’ conveniences starting from Migration. The customers can enjoy “call forwarding services” as able to call to both existing (old) telephone numbers and (new) changed telephone numbers during the transitional period.

“MPT Freestyle Football Challenge” Aims to Ignite a Passion for Healthy & Active Lifestyle while Staying Home

(Yangon, 21st May 2020) – MPT, the official partner of Myanmar National League (MNL), today launched the “MPT Freestyle Football Challenge” Video Contest for Myanmar football enthusiasts, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their football skills while staying home. This new, fun challenge video contest aims to ignite a passion for a healthy and active lifestyle during these difficult times.

All Myanmar citizens who love the beautiful game can participate in this challenge video contest. Contestants will have a chance to score great prizes by uploading a short video recording (as shown in the sample video) showcasing their football skills to a dedicated Challange Portal at http://mptfreestylefootball.com/ which will be actived on 22nd May at noon. The video must be at least 30 seconds long and can have up to 3 minutes duration.

Starting from 23rd May, contestants can upload their video to the Challenge Portal by signing up using MPT SIM number and relevant personal information. Moreover, for the videos to be eligible for consideration, contestants must publicly share them on their Facebook pages, along with the link to the Challenge Portal, using a hashtag #MPTFreestyleFootballChallenge

“Due to the COVID-19 situation, many people are staying at home while sports activities are also suspended across the country. However, we need to keep our body and mind healthy and active as much as we can while staying home. This MPT Freestyle Football Challenge aims to encourage everyone to do just that. There are special Early Bird prizes for the first (20) contestants who uploaded their videos to the Challange Portal where each winner will receive a soccer ball with a memory signatures of famous football players.

A total of 20 winners will be selected based on the combination of public voting (50%) and the verdict from the penal of judges (50%), comprising Myo Hlaing Win, Soe Myat Min, and Thiha Si Thu, famous former Myanmar football superstars. Football fans are invited to logon to the Challenge Portal using their Facebook account to vote for their favorite contestants and challenge videos.

The First Prize winner will be awarded Ks. 300,000, where the Second Prize and Third Prize winners will be awarded Ks. 200,000 and Ks. 100,000 respectively. The remaining (17) contestants will receive Ks. 50,000 as a consolation prize. All prize money will be awarded via the MPT Money application.

Participants will be able to upload their videos until 12th June. The winners will be announced on 19th June. Customers Can Re-Activate SIM Cards in “One-Way Block Stage” by Registering with Accurate Information

(Yangon, 5th May 2020) – MPT customers who may have overlooked the deadline to complete SIM Registration with accurate information will now have their SIM cards moved to “One-Way Block Stage” where outgoing calls, SMS, data and all chargeable services are blocked except to access MPT4U App or MPT’s Customer Selfcare Website or to contact 106 Call Center.

However, as per the Posts and Telecommunications Department (PTD) guidelines, a grace period through 30th June 2020 has been established to allow mobile customers to complete the SIM Registration process with accurate personal information to re-activate their SIM cards.

Even in “One-Way Block Stage”, customers can easily and conveniently update SIM registration from the convenience of their Home by accessing MPT4U App or by dialing *601# or through MPT’s Customer Selfcare Website at http://care.mpt.com.mm.

Customers also have an option to visit MPT Own Shop, Franchise Shop, Regional Office or Point-of-Sale locations to complete SIM registration.

The legal name of the customer along with proper identification such as NRC Number for Myanmar Citizens or Passport for Foreigners is required to complete the SIM registration. The SIM card will be re-activated approximately 30 minutes after the successful completion of the registration process.
