MPT, as a responsible local organization, would like to address and provide the clarification on that one employee of MPT General Post Office (Billing/Payment service), Kyauktada Township in Yangon Region was tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) which infected employee attended the office until 22nd Oct, 2020. 

MPT has been following the guidelines of MoHS and cooperating with local authorities on this matter to support with extensive contact tracing efforts and pledge to support our customers and employees who may have been affected by this unfortunate situation.  The relevant employee has been transferred to a treatment facility, receiving the care and treatment necessary for full recovery. 

Prior to this, we have taken all the rigorous precautionary measures protocols at MPT Own Shop locations to ensure health and safety of all our customers and employees. 

Best practices we have implemented include – 

  • Wearing masks and face shield while working at the shops 
  • Washing hands frequently and practicing social distancing 
  • Using filtration materials (Glass partition) between customers and staffs, sanitation and disinfection of our offices, shops, and vehicles 
  • Routine body-temperature checks and hand washing stations at our shops 
  • Implementation of Work from Home (WFH) scheme 

We will continue to closely monitor the updates around the COVID-19 situation, meticulously follow guidelines by MoHS and coordinate within the organization to ensure we’re taking necessary steps to mitigate the spread of the virus and take necessary actions in case of additional positive cases. MPT customers are urged to follow the MoHS guidelines and work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19. 

While most MPT Own Shops are suspended temporarily from service during  Thadingyut  holiday, we like to encourage our customers to use MPT4U App, MPT Call Center 106 and MPT Facebook Messenger from the convenience of their own home.

Since we have already closed MPT Own Shops in Yangon except the Sule Own Shop (Open from Monday to Friday) since 29th September, the last working day of the infected employee was 29th of September.  Prior to this, we have taken all the rigorous precautionary measures protocols at MPT Own Shop locations to ensure health and safety of all our customers and employees.

MPT Further Expends its Support for the Integration of Bachelor of Nursing Science (Bridge) (Off-Campus) Program After a Success in Lower Myanmar Locations

(Yangon, 15th September 2020) – MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator, expands its collaboration with university-level institutions and nursing training schools in Upper Myanmar with the integration of an innovative Bachelor of Nursing Science (Bridge) (Off-Campus) Program in support of the country’s healthcare system. This year, the initiative will reach ten new educational institutions in Shan, Kayah, and Kachin States as well as Magway, Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay Regions.

By providing support to the Nursing Off-Campus Program, MPT is actively contributes to the development of e-learning environment and the improvement of modern medical education. To ensure successful project execution, MPT provides fiber internet, video conference facilities, laptops, internet connectivity, and routers for Wi-Fi sharing. Within two years, the total budget allocated to the program by MPT will exceed Ks 200 million. Countrywide access to educational resources and communication tools is part of the long-term commitment of MPT’s wide-ranging CSR initiatives.

“The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the urgent need for educational institutions to embrace digital transformation and provide innovative web-based education solutions. Since 2019, MPT has been collaborating with nursing universities and training schools, to bolster Myanmar’s healthcare system with qualified nurses. This year we are expanding our support of these web-based training programs in Upper Myanmar. During transitional period of old numbers to new numbers, MPT will provide 3 months ‘call forwarding services’ for their incoming calls free of charge, for customers’ conveniences starting from migration. The customers can enjoy “call forwarding services” as able to call to both existing (old) telephone numbers and (new) changed telephone numbers during the transitional period.

COVID-19 Positive Patient 2 Employees At MPT Office In Yangon

MPT found that 2 employees at Yangon, MPT Mayangone Office and Pazuntaung Office have tested positive for COVID-19 . The concerned employees have no direct contact with customers and is now receiving medical attention on 13rd September 2020.

We have already working closely with the respective COVID-19 Prevention & Control Committee and related authorities,

•To identify the employees who have had the close contact with this Employee
•To keep house quarantine (21 days) of every staff who worked in the same office
•To report/monitor the health condition (temperature and symptom) of close contact employees,
•To sanitize the workplace where this Employee was working.

We will take prompt action in accordance with the instructions of MoHS and authorities.

The employees who worked in the same office as this Employee and the close contact employees will be kept at home quarantine for 21 days after the date of last contact, regardless of how long they have been working in the same office.

We have already taken necessary measures following the orders from MoHS authorities such as tracing of the closed contacts people to these infected patients and completed the disinfection to the MPT Mayangone and Pazuntaung Offices.

We will continue our efforts to prevent the spread of infection both internally and externally under the guideline of MoHS and keep operating the telecommunication service which is the important lifeline of Myanmar people even under this hard situation of COVID-19.

Farmers Can Receive Myanma Agricultural Development Bank’s Disbursement Of Agricultural Loans Through MPT Money
