Coca-Cola Myanmar and national telco MPT kick off “Refresh & Top-Up Promotion” to reward more than 15 million consumers with free top-up value when they purchase Coca-Cola products

YANGON, Myanmar, 2 July 2015 – In the first promotion of its kind ever launched in Myanmar, Coca-Cola today launched the Refresh & Top-Up Promotion with national telco MPT to reward consumers with free MPT top-up value when they purchase a refreshing Coca-Cola. This under-the-cap promotion will grant more than 15 million MPT mobile top-up prizes of anywhere from 200 to 1,000,000 Kyats to lucky winners so they can connect with friends and family when taking a break with Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion will also be integrated into on-going Coca-Cola and MPT campaigns and activities in Myanmar, giving people across the country a chance to participate, feel refreshed and share moments of happiness with delicious Coca-Cola.

The Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion is set to be the biggest promotion of its kind in Myanmar thanks to its broad reach and ease of participation. Coca-Cola is the leading non-alcoholic beverage company with national distribution in Myanmar, which means that people across the country can easily enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola and feel uplifted whenever they want to take a break. At the same time, state-owned MPT (Myanma Posts and Telecommunications) is the largest telco in the country and has over 130 years of experience connecting friends and family in Myanmar. By joining together to help people refresh and reconnect, Coca-Cola and MPT estimate that the Refresh & Top-Up Promotion will reach tens of millions of people across the country.

A momentous step forward in the scale and quality of promotional activities held in Myanmar to date, the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion also marks the first time that an under-the-cap promotion in Myanmar will provide free top-up value to lucky winners. According to the campaign details, the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion is open to all MPT GSM/WCDMA subscribers and provides chances for them to win a wide range of prizes when they enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola. More than 90 million MPT top-up codes will be printed on a range of Coca-Cola products and packages nationwide, including Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, Sprite, and Max+ beverages in both plastic and glass bottles and aluminium cans. By submitting the codes to MPT via free SMS to 2626, MPT subscribers can see if they have won top-up value and how much. More than 15 million lucky winners will receive MPT top-up prizes of 200, 1,000, 10,000, and even 1,000,000 Kyats instantly credited to their accounts. The winning MPT mobile top-ups can be used for calls to MPT numbers, SMS, or mobile data connection. The promotion will officially run from July 20, 2015 through December 31, 2015 after which the codes will become invalid. However, top-up value will remain valid for one year. Additionally, grand prize winners who receive 1,000,000 Kyat worth of value will receive four years of validity. This means that winners can continue to connect with family and friends for months and even years to come.

The Coca-Cola Happiness Journey, a series of music concerts themed around the Coca-Cola Uplifting Break, will integrate the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion with a unique twist that allows Myanmar’s youth to stay connected through MPT. The concerts, which have been held since 2013 in cities across Myanmar, give thousands of fans the opportunity to take a break with Coca-Cola and enjoy entertainment from their favorite artists. Now, during the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion, fans can also stay connected with friends and family at the venues with support from MPT so that they can instantly share their happy moments. Fans will also have the opportunity to win prizes from Coca-Cola and MPT, participate in the Refresh & Top-Up Promotion, and easily get refreshing Coca-Cola and MPT top-up. Four concerts will be held in 2015, in Taunggyi on July 4th, Magway on July 25th , Shwe Bo on August 15th, and Myeik on September 19th, all of which will support the Coca-Cola MPT  Refresh & Top-Up Promotion. Coca-Cola has plans to share the excitement of the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion through a variety of channels in addition to the Happiness Journey. On social media, Coca-Cola Myanmar will welcome participants to share their winning moments while providing updates on the promotion from across the country. Coca-Cola Brand Ambassadors such as award-winning recording artist Mi Sandi will also join the fun by spreading the word on the Coca-Cola MPT Refresh & Top-Up Promotion with fans.
