25 Mar 2017

(Yangon, 25 March, 2017) – MPT today announced its new Shal Pyaw tariff plan which offers customers significantly more savings for on-net (MPT-to-MPT) calls at an amazing low rate of just 15 Ks/minute, making it a highly attractive option for those who regularly call friends and family on MPT’s nationwide telecommunications network.

Starting from 26 March 2017, MPT GSM customers can enjoy the lowest on-net call rate – 15Ks/minute, both to other MPT mobile and fixed line users, with free-of-charge subscription by dialing *234*3# on their mobile devices (postpaid users: *235*3#). For the other tariffs on the Shal Pyaw plan, off-net call is 25Ks/minute, the SMS rate is 15 Ks/SMS and for Data it is 8 Ks/Mb.

Mr. Toshitake Amamiya, Chief Executive Officer, MPT-KSGM Joint Operations said: “Our customers have been crucial to our success and we want to affirm MPT’s commitment to them by providing better value and flexible service options that suit their needs. We have listened to their feedback and are now taking the initiative to introduce our new Shal Pyaw plan, which features an attractive on-net call tariff both on mobile and to MPT landline phones at just 15 Ks per minute, the lowest rate in Myanmar to connect with largest customer base in the country.”

“As we look ahead to the festive period of Thingyan next month, we hope that users will take advantage of the new plan to reach out to friends and loved ones on Myanmar’s fastest and widest telecommunications network.” he added.

Customer in Shal Pyaw plan can enjoy the same data package as SweThahar plan. MPT offer range of packages with discounted rates starting from 1Ks/MB such as the Colourful Data Packs, Night Time Data Packs and Social Pack. Furthermore, any MBs from Data Packs purchased while on other plans prior to subscribing to Shal Pyaw, would be carried over as long as they still remain valid within the respective packs’ duration periods. Internet access will remain intact even if you revert to other tariff plans.

Allowing better flexibility, users still have the option to unsubscribe from Shal Pyaw and revert to other plans* by:

– dialing *234*1# to switch to the Base Tariff plan

– dialing *234*2# to switch to the Swe Thahar plan

*Changes between tariff plans can only be done once per calendar day.
