(Yangon, 30th December 2020) – The new year is coming soon and MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator wishes a “Happy New Year 2021″ filled with renewed energy, optimism, happiness, and prosperity for the people and communities across Myanmar.

Each new year brings excitement for what is ahead, but it also highlights the importance of reflecting on what has happened in the past year. Despite all unforeseen circumstances, unprecedented challenges, and emotional moments of 2020, MPT continues to spearhead the positive changes in the industry while providing steadfast efforts in support of the nationwide fight against the pandemic.

Our priority has been the health and safety of our customers, partners, employees and community as a whole. In support of that, we have continued to monitor and adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS) and continuing the safe business operations of all its units. Enhanced safety measures have been implemented at all offices and shops, with a particular focus on its frontline staff.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, MPT has been providing FTTH and B2B high-speed fiber internet connectivity as well as Wi-Fi access at more than 60 treatment and quarantine centers across all States and Regions. Moreover, in support of the frontline medical professionals, volunteers, and vulnerable communities, MPT has made more than 100 million Kyats in cash donations along with the donation of masks and top-up cards to the quarantine centers as well as basic food items to orphanages worth of 40 million Kyats. During the year 2020, even in the midst of the COVID-19 situation, MPT continues its support in health and education sectors such as building tube wells, hand washing facilities at schools and supporting necessity equipment and internet to nursing schools for their off-campus program as part of its commitment to support the development of future generations.

MPT’s fast and reliable FTTH and B2B fiber internet services have been playing a key role for customers, businesses, and communities across Myanmar empowering them to stay connected with their loved ones, have access to the latest news, games, and entertainment on top of conducting daily activities such as work and school.
