MPT Contributed Additional Ks 100 Million Along With Over Ks 20 Million in Donations From Customers for the Fight Against COVID-19

(Yangon, 29th May 2020) – MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecom operator, announced today, it contributed additional Ks. 100 million along with 20,691,500 MMK received from generous and caring MPT customers via the SMS Donation Platform launched from 6th April to 17th May, showcasing its on-going support towards the nationwide efforts in response to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Myanmar.

Today’s donation was made to National Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and it will be used to fund the ongoing operations including the purchase of essential medical equipment such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Masks, Respirators, and Ventilators, etc., for frontline medical professionals and strengthen operational readiness of Myanmar’s healthcare system.

In addition to the cash donations made towards required supplies and equipment, MPT is supporting the nationwide efforts to combat COVID-19 by providing vital telecom services including Fiber Internet Connections and Auto Telephone Lines to the Phaunggyi COVID-19 Medical Centers as well as other quarantine & treatment centers across States and Regions.

MPT is also providing a variety of services including free unlimited access to 6 websites, data-free access to Saw Saw Shar App, bonus data & voice call packages for customers, SMS donation platform, donation of MPT SIM cards to quarantine centers, COVID-19 SMS Information Service, free call access to MOHS Spokesperson, COVID-19 information centers and counselling centers across Myanmar
