(Yangon, 5th November 2020) – MPT, as a responsible local telecom operator, extends its commitment to Keep Myanmar Connected during the 2nd wave of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) with the installation of B2B high-speed dedicated fiber internet service and Wi-Fi access at the newly opened COVID-19 Treatment Facility (Ayeyarwaddy Test & Care Center) located at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay which will be completed within this week.
The COVID-19 Treatment Facility (Ayeyarwaddy Test & Care Center) has been established by the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) with the support of Ayeyarwady Foundation as part of the nationwide fight against COVID-19. It has a capacity to accommodate 200 COVID-19 patients including 100 ICU beds as well as facilities for medical professionals and volunteers.
Myanmar’s first and leading telecom operator supports the frontline medical professionals, volunteers, essential medical services and the people of Myanmar by providing high-speed internet connectivities to more than 60 COVID-19 treatment and quarantine centers across all States and Regions along with cash donation and material support.
“MPT continues its pledge to support the nationwide effort to combat the COVID-19 disease by providing high-speed fiber internet access at the newly opened COVID-19 Treatment Facility (AyeyarwadyTest & Care Center) at Mandalay. We realized that the current coronavirus situation has made reliable internet access in Myanmar a more urgent issue than ever. As such, we are standing together with authorities, medical facilities and communities across the country and giving them essential support they need during these difficult times,” said Mr. Tetsunori Nagashima, Chief Commercial Officer of MPT-KSGM JO.
MPT, as a responsible local telecom operator, provided various support to the communities across myanmar such as donation of Ks 100 million along with over Ks 20 million received from generous MPT customers via the SMS Donation Platform to National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the first wave of COVID-19. Furthermore, as a part of its CSR initiatives during COIVD-19, MPT provided Top-Up Cards to the quarantine centers across 18 States and Regions and donation of basic food items to nationwide orphanages. Moreover, MPT re-opened its SMS fundraising platform on 3rd October for its customers who willing to help in combating the deadly virus in Myanmar.
