MPT is Helping to Keep Myanmar Connected When It Matters Most with the Return of Amazing “5 Mins in 1 Hour” Promotion

(Yangon, 2nd April 2020) – During this unprecedented period challenging Myanmar’s citizens health and economy, MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecom operator, joins countrywide efforts to respond to COVID-19 by providing special telecom offers to its customers.

We understand that reliable connectivity is crucial during this time of heighten worry and concern and our primary goal is to keep our customers stay connected with their family, friends, jobs and to ensure they get critical information accurately in real-time.

As such, starting April 2nd through 30th June 2020, MPT will be offering the famed “5 Mins in 1 Hour” promotion where customers will receive up to 55 minutes voice call time free – paying only for the first 5 minutes of every MPT to MPT call.

In order to take advantage of “5 Mins in 1 Hour” promotion and stay in touch with loved ones, MPT GSM/WCDMA customers can subscribe to the offer without any additional charges. Customers will be charged only for the first 5 continuous minutes of a voice call to another MPT number. After 5 minutes and up to 60 minutes, the call will be free of charge.

Activation of “5 mins in 1 Hour” offer is possible for Swe Thahar/Shal Pyaw/Shwe Zagar plan users and can be easily set by dialing *5055# or *5055*1#. Base Tariff users have to migrate to Swe Thahar plan to activate this offer. For the first 5 minutes, customers will be charged Ks 27/Minute and similar amount will be charged for calls lasting more than 60 mins.

Moreover, the operator already donated over 9,000 SIM cards with mobile data to people atquarantine centers in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Kayin State to allow them stay in contact with their families and officials.
