MPT is Taking Necessary Actions in Response to New COVID-19 Cases within the Organization    

(Yangon, 6th October 2020)

MPT, as a responsible local organization, would like to address and provide the clarification on that one employee of MPT Own Shop (Shwegondaing) was today tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

MPT has been following the guidelines of MoHS and cooperating with local authorities on this matter to support with extensive contact tracing efforts and pledge to support our customers and employees who may have been affected by this unfortunate situation.  The relevant employee has been transferred to a treatment facility, receiving the care and treatment necessary for full recovery.

Since we have already closed MPT Own Shops in Yangon except the Sule Own Shop (Open from Monday to Friday) since 29th September, the last working day of the infected employee was 29th of September.  Prior to this, we have taken all the rigorous precautionary measures protocols at MPT Own Shop locations to ensure health and safety of all our customers and employees.

Best practices we have implemented include –

Wearing masks and face shield while working at the shops

  • Washing hands frequently and practicing social distancing
  • Using filtration materials between customers and staffs, sanitation and disinfection of our offices, shops, and vehicles
  • Routine body-temperature checks and hand washing stations at our shops
  • Implementation of Work from Home (WFH) scheme

We will continue to closely monitor the updates around the COVID-19 situation, meticulously follow guidelines by MoHS and coordinate within the organization to ensure we’re taking necessary steps to mitigate the spread of the virus and take necessary actions in case of additional positive cases. MPT customers are urged to follow the MoHS guidelines and work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

While most MPT Own Shops in Yangon are suspended temporarily from service, we like to encourage our customers to use MPT4U App, MPT Call Center 106 and MPT Facebook Messenger from the convenience of their own home.
