MPT To Kick Off Next Round Of Nationwide Mobile Seminars in 2017
Company pressing on with initiative to educate country’s users on SIM registration, proper smartphone usage and online safety following success of previous seminars
(Yangon, 30 December 2016) – Coming off a successful series of mobile seminars on safe and proper mobile and internet usage earlier this year, MPT is announcing that it will carry out another round of seminars at the start of 2017 in additional locations nationwide. Aiming to target a further 20,000 participants the seminars’ informative curriculum will be presented in 70 townships between January and end of March 2017.
Apart from information on the guidelines on SIM registration requirements, with the country’s deadline on the process fast-approaching on 31 March 2017, the seminars by the MPT team will cover essential areas such as proper mobile usage and etiquette, internet safety and how to protect yourself in an online environment from dangers such as cyberbullying or harassment, as well as safeguarding your personal data in a connected world.
Held as part of MPT’s commitment to improving the lives of Myanmar’s communities, the free-to-attend seminars will be held throughout Myanmar to make sure everyone can participate these events.
Mr. Koichi Kawase, Chief Commercial Officer of MPT-KSGM Joint Operation, said “We can clearly see that smartphones and connected devices are increasingly becoming ubiquitous in Myanmar, which has seen a surge of internet users in recent years. MPT’s mobile seminars have been well-received thus far having reached about 30,000 participants, and we would like to press on with our initiative as a responsible telecommunications company to further help increase the awareness of the important topics of SIM registration, proper mobile usage and online safety amongst the general public. We will also impart useful tips for customers on how to make the most of their experience on the country’s largest mobile network as part of our program.”
Many customers benefited from MPT’s seminars held between February and July in 2016, where MPT conducted 123 seminars in several townships throughout the country in the respective regions’ schools, universities and industrial zones.
This second round of 71 seminars will be held in 2017 at the respective 70 townships under following states and regions: Ayeyarwaddy, Yangon, Tanintharyi, Bago, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Sagaing, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states.
