MPT Launches Myanmar’s First Full-Scale eBook Service For Country’s Avid Readers

(Yangon, 17th October 2018) MPT today introduced Myanmar’s first full-scale eBook service, ‘MPT Books’, that will offer the country’s many readers convenient access to the largest digital library of published novels by famous authors, comics, magazines, and journals in Myanmar. The content, available via subscriptions for magazines and journals or purchase and rental for books, will be accessible via the service’s mobile app(*1) that can be downloaded by MPT users or on their devices and PCs via web browsers.(*1: Mobile app will be available in the end of October 2018.)

Joining up as partners for this first-of-its-kind service are Seiku Cho Cho, We Digital (Nga Dot Sar Pay), and more than 30 of Myanmar’s other well-known publishing houses, which are contributing thousands of eBook versions of compelling written publications. Featuring a variety of genres, ‘MPT Books’ will have available more than 600 novels/books at launch with thousands more to be added in the coming months, 24 journal and 26 magazine titles with hundreds of back issues to be accessed.

After accessing the ‘MPT Books’ web page (https://books.mpt.com.mm/ or direct dial “*7272#” to get MPT Books link via SMS) and completing the registration process through the service, new subscribers will receive a seven-day free trial for either the “magazine” or the “journal” packages. (*2) Once the free trial period ends, customers will need to pay the monthly subscription charge for the packages of just Ks 1,999 a month.

Novels or books, many of which were written by Myanmar’s most cherished authors such as Chit Oo Nyo, Ma Sandar, Ma Thida (Sanchaung), and many more, can be purchased for affordable prices start from Ks 150 per book or rented for 48 hours each for up to 85% lower price of purchased book. Once downloaded, these books can be accessed both online and offline as well on-the-go. Readers can also enjoy a selection of free eBooks to experience the service before opting to rent or purchase from ‘MPT Books’ catalogue.

 In conjunction with the service’s launch, there will be a lucky draw promotion campaign with subscribers to the service entered to win giveaways of exciting prizes such as the iPad 6 and Samsung Tab 10.1. The lucky draw period will be valid for users who register from 17 October to 11 November 2018. The winner will be announced later in November, 2018.
