MPT’s Blazes The High-Speed Trail With LTE+ In Eastern Shan, Sagaing, Thaninthari, And Rakhine
13 Jul 2017(Yangon, 13 July 2017) – Starting from 14th July, mobile users in Tachileik in Eastern Shan and Shwebo in Sagaing can enjoy high-speed fourth-generation network speeds for the first time, as MPT expanded its advanced LTE+ network on the 1.8GHz spectrum featuring double the data speed compared to regular 4G/LTE networks, in more areas around the country. Together with other locations in Thaninthari and Rakhine, MPT has connected a total of six new coverage areas to Myanmar’s fastest and widest network.
This latest expansion brings the LTE+ service to Tachileik in Eastern Shan, Shwebo in Sagaing, Myeik and Dawei in Thaninthari, Sittwe in Rakhine, and Patheingyi in Mandalay.
Mr. Reizo Umeda, Chief Commercial Officer MPT-KSGM Joint Operations, commented on the significant milestone: “We are pleased to be connecting more communities to our advanced LTE+ service, notably being the first to provide next-generation mobile network speeds in Tachileik and Shwebo, in Eastern Shan and Sagaing respectively. Our ambitious expansion plan to make high-speed mobile services available for users nationwide is on-track and will rapidly encompass 74 townships, including 30 cities by the end of September – representing every state and region – as we strive to move Myanmar forward.”
“Additionally, we are offering a special data bonus of 1GB to first-time customers, letting them experience the amazing LTE+ speeds as they connect with friends and family, surf social media and enjoy rich content online on mobile devices,” he added.
Since early July, MPT has been upgrading and switching its mobile network towers to deliver LTE+ powered by 4×4 MIMO advanced technology. The operator has been aggressively rolling out the network which has so far reached 65 townships, including 21 cities, State and Regional capitals.
Customers on Shal Pyaw and Swe Thahar tarrif plans in these new areas are now be eligible for MPT’s 1GB welcome bonus when they get on the LTE+ network for the first time. The bonus data is usable for one week after activation.
In conjunction with its ongoing LTE+ deployment, MPT is running a number of events around Myanmar to publicize the network expansion which will have the largest coverage footprint in the country, once the total number of locations have been incorporated.
