MPT Rakhine State SMS Donation Campaign Raises 100 Mil Ks. For UEHRD Humanitarian Efforts

(Yangon, 8 March 2018) MPT is pleased to announce that the SMS Donation Campaign for the people of Rakhine has successfully raised 101,792,000 Ks. in donations from its compassionate customers.

The funds were transferred to the Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development (UEHRD) Committee in Rakhine that is overseeing efforts to support the affected communities, at a special ceremony held at the meeting hall for Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw. Receiving the contributions on behalf of the UEHRD was Union Minister for Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the vice chairman for UEHRD.

“We are deeply thankful for the overwhelming outpouring of support from our customers around the country. The tragic and saddening developments in Rakhine have necessitated humanitarian outreach and MPT’s customers have together made a positive impact by offering their crucial aid to Rakhine’s communities. Through our SMS donation platform and collaboration with the UEHRD, which is spearheading humanitarian assistance initiatives there, users contributed more than 100 million Ks., in a humbling feat of generosity that will truly make a difference for the thousands of people in need,” said U Naing Ko Ko, General Manager of MPT (Deputy Chief Operating Officer of MPT-KSGM Joint Operations)

MPT commenced this SMS donation drive out of concern and care for those experiencing the devastating loss of their livelihoods and homes. All the contributions will go towards providing humanitarian assistance, resettlement and rehabilitation and the development of Rakhine State’s affected areas and residents, in the spirit of national unity. As a government own operator, MPT is committed to assisting the communities of this nation in times of dire need.

“Our thoughts are very much with those displaced from the affected areas of Rakhine. We would like to also thank the UEHRD, all the respective ministries and agencies for their joint efforts to ease the suffering faced by these people,” added U Naing Ko Ko.
